Courage…shows the character of a man.  Faith…shows the strength of that character.

Two strong words to describe the University of Texas Longhorns Hero – Freddie Steinmark.

At the start of the film, we find ourselves at the latter half of Steinmark’s life.  We see the hard work and commitment by the family to get a big university football scholarship.  That road leads to the University of Texas.

Small in stature at 5’9, Steinmark, played by #Finn Wittrock, consistently shows why he’s on the team.  He out runs everybody on the team.  He hits harder than anybody on the team, and he has more spirit, heart than anybody on the team.  It is a tenacity that leads to a 1969 National Championship for the University of Texas.

However, that glory is short lived, and Steinmark must face his toughest challenge.  Known as a self-less team player, he inspired, and encouraged everyone to work hard at doing their best, to hope, and to dream, no matter the adversity.

People, this is a true story of a young man, whose life span may have been cut short, but was lived with “Heart”.  So much so, that his image, with the word “Heart”, is exemplified before every UT home game on the big Jumbotron.

Hard labor in wash laundries, unequal pay to men, no voice in the legal system to the well being of one’s child, as well as no voice over one’s own money because you’re a woman?

Enough is enough!

Women in the early 1900s decided they no longer wished to be non-existent.  They wanted equal rights, and the right to vote with men.

Suffragette expounds on the early “foot soldiers” in this cause, in early 1900 Britain.  With the movement cast aside as a joke, a small band of women take it up a notch, resorting to militant practices, to draw attention to their cause.

Based on true events, and real people, such as Emily Wilding Davison, whose last act brought global wide attention to the cause, one can see the depth of the meaning “Suffragette”.

It is a slow paced movie.  But, it will get you there to the significance of an ongoing fight to equal rights, and the right to vote for women around the globe.

Talk about a movie that will reach down to your inner core, and hold you in heroic suspense…Room is that movie!

Room is a movie about a young woman, who survives a 7 yr. enclosure with her son.  We see the daily lives of the two in a tiny room, and realize the boy has never seen the outside world.  This tiny “Room” is his world.

With heroic measures, the Mom comes up with a plan for an escape, using Jack.  Jack, played by Jacob Tremblay, gives an Oscar performance showing the mental transformation of going from the Room to living in the outside world.  He is the strength, the Hero who saves his Mom.

Do not be surprised when you see this movie at the Oscars.  It will be nominated!
